Aug 08, 2025 - FASSelangor FC kicks off the 2025/26 Malaysian Super League season tonight in the Piala Sumbangsih 2025 clash against Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT), set to take place at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium at 9:00PM.
This marks the second consecutive Piala Sumbangsih showdown between Selangor FC and JDT. However, tonight's match will be especially significant as it marks Selangor FC’s official return to competitive action in this year’s curtain raiser following last season’s withdrawal due to the acid attack incident involving Red Giants captain, Faisal Halim.
Head Coach Katsuhito Kinoshi expressed confidence in the team’s preparations and hopes the players will deliver a strong performance on the pitch.
“I am optimistic about the preparations we have made throughout the past two months of preseason, both in Thailand and in Selangor. Each friendly match was very helpful in various preparation aspects for the 2025/26 season. I am sure the players will compete with full confidence and a strong mentality against a strong team tonight,” Conf Kinoshi
Before ending the interview, he also had time to convey his hopes to the Merah Kuning supporters, “I hope that the Red Giants supporters will continue to support the team and hope that we can go through this challenging 2025/26 season together.”
As for the player updates, the players are ready to fight for the Red Giants. At the same time, this opening match of the new season will mark the debut for some of the new faces of Selangor FC for the 2025/26 season; Willian Lira (Forward), Zach Clough (Midfielder), Picha Autra (Midfielder), Chrigor Moraes (Forward), Omid Musawi (Forward) and Moses Raj (Defender).
The management of Selangor FC wishes the team success in the 2025 Contribution Cup, which is also the first match of the Malaysian Super League this season. Come on, Red Giants!
